What is the background?
The non-profit "Founding Angels" initiative is aimed at promoting the "Founding Angels" business model. The initiators, are international academics and business people with the intention to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in high-tech areas.
The initiators believe that technological progress is the essential factor to overcome today's challenges, such as food and energy supply as well as climate change.
The aim is to build-up and establish a "Founding Angels" network in order to raise the number of high-tech start-up companies, as they are of essential importance as a catalyst for the commercial success of new innovative technologies.
What are "Founding Angels"?
The "Founding Angels" business model is similar to that of "Business Angels". "Founding Angels", together with partners from research, found start-up companies to further develop the research results and later, alone or together with an industrial partner, to commercialise the technology.
The engagement of "Founding Angels" is compensated not monetarily but through an equity share of the new company as a member of the founding team. Therefore, "Founding Angels" are an important driving force for the creation of new high-tech start-up companies.
Who can participate?
Private persons and institutions are invited to participate in the initiative as scientists, entrepreneurs, investors or "Founding Angels".
Please contact us, should you have further questions or if you are interested in joining the network.
